Soft Animal was born in the fall of 2021 out of concern for the lack of explicitly safe spaces in Chattanooga.

We curate events centered around marginalized people - queer, POC, disabled, fat, neurodivergent, etc…All of our events aim to be safe, accessible, inclusive, and fun AF.

We believe in joy as both a human right and an act of resistance.

Our name is based on the Mary Oliver poem Wild Geese:

You do not have to be good.

You do not have to walk on your knees

for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.

You only have to let the soft animal of your body

love what it loves.
